12/24/2005 Archived Entry: "Oh by golly have a holly jolly Christmas, this year"

Yesterday morning I hit two grocery stores to get all my food items for today and tomorrow. Neither was particularly busy, it was rather early in the morning, but they both were suffering from depletion on certain key items. Methinks next year I need to do the food shopping a bit earlier in the week. I then came home and unloaded and took both kids with me to Whole Foods while Chris did some yard work. We also stopped at Target for a couple very last minute gifts. We came home and did lunch and whatnot for a couple hours.

Then we all headed to Disneyland for the Christmas parade. I had to keep Daisy moving because if I sat down she wanted to run off and she’s simply too little for us to let walk around. She would most definitely get stepped on. The parade was wonderful, as always. Not sure what Daisy thought of it. She screeched a lot, but she does that when she’s happy too, so we kind of had to go by the look on her face. I think she liked parts and didn’t like other parts.

After the parade we went into California Adventure because we had reservations at Ariel’s Grotto. This is a character meal which we’ve done before. But last time it was Ariel as a mermaid plus Chip, Dale, Minnie and Donald. Now, it’s all princesses and Ariel is in her human form so it was nice to do again. Daisy, of course, couldn’t have cared less about a single princess and wholeheartedly disliked the squire. Tabitha enjoyed seeing everyone, even though she’s met them before, and especially liked that dessert is included and you get a big pile of cotton candy with the check.

We then bundled up and went back into Disneyland as our intent was to see the fireworks and “snow.” Nature worked against though for after standing there for 40 minutes, we were informed there were high winds preventing the fireworks from going off. Bummer. But they still did the snow effect and really, that’s what Tabitha cared about the most. We’ll catch the fireworks another time.

And that was it :) Today we’ve been cooking and cleaning, of vegging and tv watching depending which member of the family we’re talking about. Merry Christmas Eve!
