05/24/2003 Archived Entry: "day of rest"

Finally! A day where we're doing nothing! LOL Thursday the three of us headed out to Disneyland for the day. It was hot, it was crowded, it was just like summer. But we had a really good time. We don't spend our days there waiting in lines to go on rides. We go in a couple shops or meet a few characters (depending on lines). We do go on a few rides, but we choose different ones each time and the length of the line has a lot to do with our choice. Tabitha used to only go on about 5 rides and it was no trouble just doing those, but she's expanded her horizons, so to speak and rides quite a few now so it's pretty rare that we'll go on everything she likes in one day. Anyway, we did this and that and enjoyed ourselves. We hit Taco Bell on the way out and headed to a farmer's market where our friends' band was supposed to play, but apparently that got rescheduled and there was a different band there. We decided to call it a day and went home after a stop at Target.
Yesterday, Tabitha and I took the city shuttle to the mall. We did a bit of shopping for both of us. I got a pair of shorts (still pleased with that size!) and some Clinique face stuff I needed. Tabitha got Peter Pan PJs since she's outgrowing her old ones and also a Polly Pocket set that was marked waaaay down at KB Toys. We also got lunch from our favorite noodle restaurant and she rode the train before we went home. I might actually return the shorts as they were about twice the cost of what I prefer to spend. After Chris got home we all went to IKEA to look into getting Tabitha's new bed. We just don't think we're going to get the one she'd really like. It's like a low loft bed with a slide. Which is cool and all, but it has some things that aren't good. For one thing, I have no idea how I'd be able to make her bed everyday. I know that seems small and silly, but it's something that's important to me. Second of all, the amount of space under the bed is only 27" high. That's barely enough room to play which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a loft bed. We can't get her a traditional loft bed because those are way too high for a 4 year old. So, we're thinking on what to do. I talked with Tabs last night and she told me she'd be happy with any bed we got her. We're just unsure right now what we want to do.
So, this brings us to today. I know I have some house stuff to take care of, Tabitha wants to do some lessons, and we'll be going to the grocery store. It's kind of cool and overcast right now, but it's been in the high 80s so I expect it to burn off.
